About the Choir
The Mixed Chorus of the Philharmonic was founded in 1956, initially within the State Ensemble of Songs and Dances. Since 1970, the chorus belongs to the Philharmonic. Comprising 43 professional lyric artists (17 sopranos, 10 altos, 8 tenors, 8 basses), the chorus performs vocal-symphonic literature, concert opera, and a cappella works.
The chorus has toured internationally in Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, and Yugoslavia. Current conductor: Albert Zsuzsa Katalin. Former notable conductors: Szalman Lorant, Szarvady Gyula, Fejer Elemer, Birtalan Judith, Dumitru Buzoianu, Vasile Cazan.
